More than 90% of tradespeople are happy in their jobs, a study finds, making them the happiest workers in the country!

Tradespeople Love the Flexibility of Their Jobs

The study of 1,000 UK tradespeople (500 mobile and 500 non-mobile) by Ironmongery Direct found that 91% of mobile working tradespeople are happy in their jobs, with 50% stating they are "very happy".

Why do they love their jobs so much? Well, 61% claimed the biggest benefit of their job was flexible working, whereas 28% said increased productivity. 42% also said they liked that they were trusted to do their job independently.

Further questions found that these people wouldn’t like to work in one singular, confined place of work each day, such as an office. 23% believed they perform better when mobile working, as an office would provide too many distractions. Another 20% were happy to stay away from office politics and 16% said mobile working made working as team easier.

Lastly, 79% claimed mobile working increased productivity and their job performance.

What About Non-Mobile Workers?

Overall the tradespeople questioned were very happy in their job (91%), however non-mobile workers were less enamoured than their mobile counterparts. Just 62% said they were "happy" and 24% "very happy".

90% of tradesmen said they were happier as a mobile worker than a non-mobile worker, but just 55% said the reverse.

Why Was the Study Held?

Ironmongery Direct conducted the research in order to find our attitudes towards mobile working, the perceived benefits and how technology is driving productivity in the sector.
